I recently had a factory tour of Sunseeker in Poole with a small group from the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers. The opportunity to visit such an iconic brand was not to be turned down, and the day certainly was not a disappointment.

The staff in all areas were extremely hospitable and proud of the company and work they produce.

With a price tag running into many millions of pounds, the quality and detail that goes into the design and production is very impressive. And with a client base of high nett worth individuals, each boat is produced to their exact requirements.

It is difficult to imagine the scale and processes involved in completing such beautiful crafts.

Recognised as a leading global brand in its own market for quality design and value, the manufacturing process is very impressive, especially considering a considerable amount of each boat is produced in their own facility in Poole.

The moulds to form the hull and upper decks are massive and completed by hand, a truly incredible skill. Following on is the high quality fit out, with furniture and fittings mostly produced on site then obviously engines, electrical and plumbing services to navigation systems.

A day well spent and a great insight to a great British manufacturer.
