Did you know that Crest’s Managing Director, David Knight, is a Freeman of London?
Being a Freeman of the city is one of the oldest surviving traditional ceremonies still in existence today, and is believed to have been first presented in 1237. Others with the ‘key’ include Winston Churchill (1943), Jimmy Choo (2006) and J.K. Rowling (2012).
It is the highest honour which is in the power of the City of London to bestow on someone and usually takes place in Guildhall in the presence of the Common Council and with Lord Mayor, Sheriffs and Aldermen present, along with invited guests.
